CLIPPED FRAME

Image used is my own photo.

You will need
An image of your own choosing
A gold tile I used straw here
Filter: Brush Strokes here

Remember to have fun with this tutorial, you may follow it step by step or diversify as and when you like!

First open your image and choose a dark color from it as your foreground.
Select your gold tile as background.

1. Resize your image if necessary to approx 400*400.
2. Select All; Float; Effects; 3d Effects; Cutout
V and H 5, Opacity 40 Blur 20

If you right click on the colour box a popup will show your foreground colour at the bottom.

5 Select all > Image add border 25 in a bright colour not in your picture.
Select invert (just your bright border is selected) fill with gold pattern. I had my pattern set at Angle O Scale 50.

6 Adjust> Add noise 50% Uniform. Monochrome checked.

7. Effects> Texture Mosaic Glass at the following settings:
No. of columns 99

Grout Diffusion 10

8. Add drop shadow V and H 3 Opacity 80 Blur 6
Repeat reversing V and H to minus 3

9. Repeat steps 4 and 5.

10. Apply filter Brush Strokes>Cross Hatch Settings Stroke Length 25, Sharpness 7, Strength 2.

11. Add Inner Bevel. I used the Pillow Bevel supplied as a preset,
just changing the Intensity to 49, in case you do not have this the settings are
Width 8
Smoothness 40
Depth 2
Ambience 0
Shininess 10
Angle 315
Intensity 49
Elevation 20
Color White

Now we are going to make the T shape for the clip. I cannot supply this as the dimensions will vary frame to frame. Below I have tried to explain how to use guidelines to get a more accurate shape. You will be making a long thin rectangle and a slightly shorter right one.
Make sure your rulers and guidelines are on. (Click view and the dropdown will show you both)
12. Mark your guidelines at the centre horizontally. To find out exactly where your guideline is
right click on the grey marker in the ruler and a pop will give you details of the guide line. You
can adjust the position if necessary.

13. Mark guidelines 20 above and below the amount of your centre guideline. (so if your guideline is at 200 create additional ones at 180 and 220. Using the guidelines helps you to form a symmetrical shape. Your image should look something
like this : (image is white background to show guidelines)

14. Add New Layer

15. Zoom in to the left hand size of your image and using the select tool set at rectangle, select the frame within the guidelines
(right side of selection is inner edge of frame)

16. Fill with your foreground colour. Deselect.

17. Add New Layer.

18. Click on guidelines either side of centre one and decrease the top one by 20, increase bottom by 20.
See image below... it is giving the top bar of the T shape we are creating.

Select just the outer frame area and fill with foreground colour so you have a T shape...see image below.

19. Hide your bottom frame layer and merge the two "clip" layers.

20. Keeping your "clip" area selected add an inner bevel or use Impact Glass... use your imagination!

21. Finally once you are happy with your clip, duplicate and mirror, position 2nd clip to the right side.

22. Duplicate and Image rotate 90 degrees. Place at top.

23. Duplicate top clip and flip, place at bottom.

THE END
